Danau Toba North Sumatra

Danau Toba is the largest lake in Southeast Asia, Covering a massive 1707 sq km. in the Middle of this huge expanse is Pulau Samosir, a wedge-shaped island almost as big as Singapore that was created by an eruption between 30,000 and 75,000 years ago. Well Bahasa Indonesia calls it and Island, but those visiting the west of Toba will discovered that Samosir isn’t actually and island at all. It’s Linked to the mainland by narrow isthmus at the town of Panguruan and the cut again by a canel.

Directly facing Parapat is another peninsula occupied by the village of Tuk-tuk, which has Samosir’s greatest concentration of tourist facilities. Tomok, a few kilometers south of Tuku-Tuk, is the main village on the east coast of the island. Panguruan is the largest town on the west coast. 

Danau Toba has been part of traveller folk lore for decades. This grand Ocean blue like found high up among Sumatra volcanic peaks is where  the amiable Batak people reside, Largely untouched by the rest of the world. Visitor may try to enjoy some activities in lake toba such as :

Tangkahan North Sumatra

Bukit Lawang North Sumatra

Lost in depth of Sumatran Jungle is this sweet little tourist town built around the popularity of its Orangutan-viewing center. But Bukit Lawang has much more to offer beyond our red-hired cousins. It’s very easy to while away a few days lounging in the many riverside hammock, listening to the mating calls over the gushing river and watching the jungle life swing and sing around you. The surrounding jungle is one of the most region in the world. And is home to eight species of primate plus tiger, rhino, elephant, pangolin, leopard and cobras.

Visitor always exclusive come here to check out the orangutans. The conservation program has been operating on the eastern edge of Gunung Leuser National Parksince the 1970. The national Park is one of the orangutan last remaining stronghold with more than 5000 thought in the wild here.

Since the village is only 96km northwest of Medan, Bukit Lawang is also one easiest place from which to make the leap into the jungle, a diverse and rugged forest criss-crossed by clear. Fast-Flowing rivers. Many Tourist slip-slide throught the mud and undergrowth on multiday treks and hobbies back to the villages to recuperate.  

Gunung Leuser National Park Peak

Within the parks boundaries live some of the planet most endangered and excotic species : Tigers, rhinoceros, elephants, and Orang Utans. Although your chances these celebrity animals are remote, You’ve got a reasonable chance of seeing orangutans, and you can be sure of encountering plenty of primates. The most common is the white breasted Thomas’leaf monkey, which sport a brilliant, crested punk hairdo. Other resident species include leopards, bear and cobras.

Habitats range from the swamps forest of the west coast to the dense lowland rainforest of the interior. Much of the area around the Ketambe is Virgin forest. Above 1500m the permanent mist has created moss forest rich in epiphytes and orchids. Rare Flora includes two members of the rafflesia family , Rafflesia Acehensis and Rafflesia zippelnii, which are found along Alas River. 

More Than 300 birds species have been recorded in the park, including the bizarrerhinoceros hornbill, the helmeted hornbill and woodpeckers.

Berastagi Karonese Island

Escaping from the infernal heat of sea-level Medan, the colonial dutch trader climbed high into the lush, cool, volcanic hills, took one look at the stunningly verdant, undulating landscape and decided to build a rural retreat where Berastagi now stands.

Beyond to the town green fields of the Karo Highlands, dominated by two volcanoes Gunung Sinabung to the west and Gunung Sibanyak to the North. Though you won’t find lava in either Sibanyak or Sinabung each still has the feel of everything you hoped to experience from an active volcanoes with steamy gases gushing from the fumaroles like a mad scientist laboratory. This volcanoes are a day hike apiece making them two of Sumatra most accessible volcanoes and the primary reason why tourist get off the bus here.

Berastagi is at an altitude of 130m, and the climate is deliciously cool sometimes even cool.
